History Behind Baseball
Americans began playing baseball on informal teams where they used local rules early in the 1800's. By the 1860's the sport began to bring popularity to America and the people within describing the game as "America's pastime." Alexander Catwright of New York invented the modern day baseball field and has been claimed to the one who devised the first rules and regulations of the modern game of baseball. The first recorded baseball game was held in 1846 when the New York Knickerbockers lost to the New York Baseball Club, the game was held at Elysian Fields, in Hoboken, New Jersey. During 1858 the National Association of Base Ball Players were the first organized baseball league being formed and from there on the sport of baseball has transformed greatly.
